Recently I have been impressed with
some of the simple things that we as
Christians have a tendency to
overlook. We all have the
inclination to look for the more
complicated cause and effects that
influence our lives and
relationships. That is called being
human. If we take time to analyze
the truths around us we will find
that most problems we face are
really much easier and simple to
address and understand than we think
they are.
The world God
created has been defined and put on
display for all to see. God has not
hidden anything from us that we need
to know. He is straight forward and
open with us and so many times when
we contemplate the realities of the
spiritual world around us our minds
either reject what is obvious truth
or we gloss over some of the truly
important aspects regarding our
relationship with God. This should
not be so!....
Psalm 1:2 "his delight is in the law
of the Lord, and in His law he
meditates day and night" ....
The Bible mentions meditate or
meditation 20 times and the word law
is used in several different ways.
There are the universal laws, social
laws, laws of accountability,
cultural laws, laws of nature, etc.
So what laws do we need to
contemplate in order to further our
relationship with God and receive
the most from that relationship? I
mean do you really want everything
God has for you? If so how do you
get it? ....
The first place to
start is with your relationship with
the Creator. The way I break this
down is simple. (There’s that word
again) When we pray we are seeking
God as the supreme creator of all
things. Our prayers have a tendency
to be request that we send to him
through the spirit world. We know
God is present in all places at all
times (Another Blog) and can / does
hear our words. In fact it is
written that those words (the spoken
ones) hold great power. That is a
really great blessing God has
provided for us however it is only a
part of the blessing. ....
The other part that
most of us overlook is the
meditation. You see prayer is not
meditation. It can be a part of
meditation but the two are not the
same. While we pray and spend time
talking to God we also need to be
silent, contemplate who God is and
listen for what God has to say to
us. After all it is only fair! We
talk to God and then walk away never
giving God a chance to talk to
us!....
Meditation takes
practice because the lifestyles most
of us have today make it very
difficult to clear out our minds and
just listen for what God has to
communicate to us. In fact if you
think about that sentence I believe
you will understand another reason
why we NEED to meditate. To help
clear our inner thoughts so we don’t
go crazy! ....
For the last year or
so, I have been deliberately taking
time to pray and then spend at least
twice as much time meditating. The
things God has shown me and the
prayers that have been answered are
incredible and I know that I would
not have realized the results
without meditation. ....
Yes, meditation
takes time and at first some effort,
but before you realize it, you will
be experiencing a relationship with
God and an understanding that has
escaped you until now. To start with
after your prayer time just relax
somewhere alone and without
distraction (leave the house and go
to a park or ? if you have to) then
close your eyes, take several slow
deep breaths (the kind that stretch
your lungs) and think about God and
who he is to you and let Him speak
to your soul. You will find it to be
remarkable what you will hear. Until
Later, Dave ....
"Whatever is true, whatever is
honorable, whatever is right,
whatever is pure, whatever is
lovely, whatever is of good repute,
if there is any excellence and if
anything worthy of praise, dwell on
these things" Philippians 4:8
